High School Programming

Open to Chattanooga-area High Schoolers
9th-12th Graders (Ages 14-18)

At the root of Chattanooga Junior Rowing's foundation, our high school program is the available to all area high-schoolers, regardless of school affiliation or experience.

Athletes with little to no experience rowing will be introduced to the sport through our novice program. Athletes in this group will be instructed on the fundamental movements of the sport via indoor-rowing machines and larger team boats, and will develop basic physical fitness and functional body movement in a smaller group setting. With careful direction from the coaching staff, these athletes will then move to the rowing group of their choosing, either recreational or competitive.

Recreational Rowing

Our high-school recreational rowing team is designed for rowers that may have busy schedules or may not desire to race competitively, but still want to be included in the sport and team.

Rowers in the recreational rowing group will only meet three-days per week with a focus on continuing to develop and understand the rowing stroke both indoors and on the water, exercising for fitness, and continuing to function as a supportive member of our integrative team.

During the school year, our recreational team practices for two hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Cost is $325, USRowing Basic Memberships are required.

Competitive Rowing

Chattanooga Junior Rowing's competitive program is designed for experienced athletes, regardless of school affiliation, with the desire for athlete development through specific, individualized racing training, lineups, and competition. Rowers will focus on the technical development of the rowing stroke, participate in periodized strength and conditioning programming, and will continue to build upon previously established fitness and mobility.

Each season, athletes will apply and be hand-selected ahead of each regatta and will represent the city of Chattanooga on the local, regional, and national level.

During the school year, competitive athletes will practice after school for 2.5 hours, Monday-Friday, and two hours on Saturday mornings. Cost is $425 (plus traveling expenses). USRowing Championship Membership is required.
